Good oral hygiene is vital for healthy teeth and gums, at Clavell Bate Dental Practice we put great importance on preventative dentistry. Our highly trained team of dental hygienists and therapists are here to ensure that our patients receive the best possible treatments and ongoing support to maintain good oral health.
What does the hygienist do?
A hygienist is able to provide a thorough dental clean, getting to all the places you may be missing with your toothbrush; however there is more to good oral hygiene than just cleaning:
Stain removal – many things in our day to day diet such as tea and coffee can cause staining to build up on teeth. Our dental hygienists use a state of the art air flow system which uses air, water and sodium bicarbonate to gently lift stains and brighten up your smile (most dental practices charge extra for this)
Dietary advice – your diet can have a huge impact on the health and appearance of your teeth. Our hygienists are specially trained to advise you on the best way to change your dietary habits to prevent future damage to your teeth.
Prevention of gum disease – Gum disease causes bad breath and loose teeth, if left untreated it can lead to tooth loss. Our dental hygienists check for gum disease, if they notice warning signs then with regular care and maintenance they can help to stop its progression.
Oral hygiene advice – Cleaning your teeth effectively with a toothbrush is actually very difficult. Our team have a variety of techniques and tools available to help tailor make a care plan that suits your lifestyle and specific needs.
After all, prevention is better than cure
